Grain Elevator Assistant

Job Description:
Atlantic Pure Grains is currently recruiting for a full-time or Full-time seasonal Grain Elevator Assistant with responsibilities that range from receiving, loading, unloading a variety of grains, drying of grain, recording deliveries and preparing paperwork The grain facilities is located in Belle River, PEI.

Is a Canadian, family owned, grain commodity elevator operation handling the storage of grain, shipping of grain to and buying grain from local farmers.
Is a sister company to Pure Pork Farms Ltd., an established pork production farm on PEI, doing business in multiple Provinces.

You Are:
A motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and a desire to continuously improve and grow
General Duties:
Responsible for handling a variety of grain including incoming, drying, stored, and outgoing grain
Maintains positive professional service relationship with employees, suppliers and customers, as well as freight personnel
Maintain a “safety first” culture and efficient operation of the facility and to meet regulatory and safety criteria
Plans/coordinates daily work schedule
Ensures production records are accurate and maintained properly
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility and the professional appearance of equipment, rolling stock, and facilities
Responsible for ensuring Preventative Maintenance plans are followed
Attend organizational meetings as required to stay up to date and well informed
Communicates effectively with coworkers and customers
Grain grading according to Canadian standards training available in the future
Other duties as assigned
Preference given for the following Skills and Experience:
Must be computer literate with proven ability in the use of emails, word, whatsapp
Requires the ability to read, write, and comprehend English written and oral operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies, and memo, and communicate clearly
Ability to multi-task and shift between projects on a time-sensitive basis.
Must be able to work independently or in a team environment
Maintenance experience with a mechanical aptitude is preferred.
Atlantic Pure Grains is located in a rural environment and a valid Prince Edward Island Driver’s license and access to a reliable motor vehicle is required
Class 3 license is preferred
Clean safe drivers abstract is required
Work well under deadline pressures
Physical Requirements:
This position can be physically strenuous from time to time. You will be expected to be able to work in tight and confined spaces, walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift, grip, grasp, push, and pull various tools and equipment.
May be required to occasionally work at significant heights with requisite balance and equilibrium. This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders.
Ability to frequently lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more. Personal protective equipment, including hardhats, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, and respiratory protection and ear protection are required.
Vision that permits close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. When grading grain, the ability to identify and distinguish colours is also important.
Ability to smell odours and understand and discern safety warning systems
This is a physical job that includes both indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather and temperature environments. The job may include working in and around grain dust.
Flexible with work hours to reflect peak seasonal needs; must be prepared to receive phone calls and respond to company-related needs at irregular times.
Standing for extended periods Bending, crouching, kneeling
Ability to work overtime including weekends or holidays with some advance notice
Must provide their own steel toe boots
